The South Carolina senate race: history, data and the final week

October polling tightened: NYT/Siena (Oct 19-26) found a 48-48 tie, while ECU (Oct 19-24) had Graham ahead 51-47 and Trafalgar (Oct 16-18) had her ahead 48.6-45.6. Andrews has campaigned on grocery, gas and health-care costs and on Graham's experience; Graham has said she would "keep the pressure on Russia" after Trump waived sanctions under a law named for Lindsey Graham (Roll Call). Ralph Norman has said he will not appear at events with Graham, and some of his supporters have pushed a write-in campaign. Republicans added $5 million from the Senate Leadership Fund and a Trump rally on Oct 21.

2026 U.S. SenateNov 3 electionDarline Graham (R) holds the seat by appointment after Sen. Lindsey Graham died on July 11, 2026. Because Lindsey Graham had already won the June 9 Republican primary, the GOP held a special primary (Aug 11) and runoff (Aug 25) to choose a new nominee.Updated Oct 31

What to watch on November 3

Polls close statewide at 7:00 p.m. Eastern. The Citadel's poll found about 2% of likely voters choosing a Ralph Norman write-in when offered, so write-in totals and Graham's margins in the Upstate are worth watching.

Reading a race call: preliminary totals are unofficial. Media projections must name the projecting outlet; certification comes from authorized election officials.
